Today, I wanted to share with you a few highlights from my journeys around the interwebs recently. I’ve been meaning to share this post for awhile now, but I kept finding more and more new articles to share. Finally, I just had to cut it off and say “here’s what I’ve got for now” – but there will probably be more coming soon
Turns out, when you’re overtired, you make “less rational” decisions about food and your brain’s reward centers go into overdrive at the thought of fatty and sweet foods. So…. sleep your way thin? Probably not, but it gives new importance to getting that recommended 7-8 hours of sleep each night.
Way back in the day, when the big guy was designing our bodies, he wasn’t really expecting us to sit away our lives. We were built for standing and walking and running and all of those non-sedentary activities. This guy puts the theory to the test and stands (at work, not at all times ever) for two years. Improved posture, muscle tone/strength in his legs and decreased back pain. I’d happily take some of those outcomes, wouldn’t you?
This guy re-created a bunch of national flags using foods associated with that country. A little inanity for your day is a good thing.
These next few aren’t exactly (or at all) related to healthy living but they were too good to keep to myself.
Someone’s wearing their creative hat today. Kudos to Science World for making science fun for all.
A truly excellent reminder for any parent of a toddler, as well as for the rest of you crazies running around like you’re always in a hurry to get somewhere. In case you haven’t heard, life ain’t about the destination, it’s about the journey.
See, Dad? I do make good decisions Fewer interventions, preemies, medications, etc… I delivered both of my babes with a local midwife practice at the hospital, and it was one of the better pregnancy-related decisions I made. Ranks right up there with limiting my whiskey intake.
More coming soon…
