I was reading through some of my favorite blogs the other day and stumbled across this amazing recipe for quickie french toast – and I knew what I’d be making for breakfast! I forget how easy french toast really is, and this recipe had a little twist for an extra flavor burst. So good I made it again the next day
Since Dane was out of town, I made just enough for me – but it’d be easy to make this in larger quantities. Start with one egg, lightly beaten. Dredge a slice of bread (whole wheat! multi grain!) in the eggs, flipping to get both sides. Spray a pan with Pam and get that bread a’cookin’!
Flip when perfectly golden brown. Meanwhile, combine 1 tbsp butter (or marg), 1 tbsp brown sugar and 1/2 tbsp cinnamon in a small bowl.
Microwave ~30 seconds, or until melted, and stir. Pour over your french toast, and enjoy!
Mmmmm… combined with one adorable baby and you have a lovely Saturday (and Sunday!) morning breakfast

We make french toast quite often. If your bread is getting a tad stale, it is a godo way to use it up. I let it soak in the batter a little longer than usual, if that is the case. That combo of butter/marg with brown sugar and cinnamon sounds out of this world. That is what I am trying this weekend.
That is such a great idea! It’s happened more times than I like where the waffles, pancakes or french toast are made and NO syrup. Tragedy. So this is a great idea as a backup as well!
Even though we had real Maine maple syrup from our own trees, my mom used to make her version of syrup with the brown sugar and water when we ran out of the other. I am pretty sure there was no cinnamon included and I don’t think butter/margarine was added. It was always served warm – it was very good.
